My little kitty cat, who was supposed to be a princess but who was serious when she explained to me that she isn't the princess type. At 2 1/2 years old, she is as good as Tanner was at that age about explaining her point of view. She said to me, "I am a girl that wants to be a cat, or a frog, or a lion. I am just not a princess, Mom!" It always surprises me how early it is that they know what they want!
