How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I surprised Tanner by buying tickets to How the Grinch Stole Christmas at Gammage. Tanner had a pretty fun time even though he was a little bored at times. He still managed to put on a happy face for his mom, who was SUPER EXCITED about the play. I had a great time and learned this:

1) Tanner is an incredibly gracious person who senses when someone wants a certain reaction and when he loves you, he'll do it just to make you happy. I love this about him! I felt a little bad because I hyped up the surprise and then Tanner almost fell asleep a couple times during the show - plays are just not his thing. But sensing my need to have picked a good surprise for him he held my face in his hands and said, "Stop worrying, Mom. It was awesome. I was just a little tired. You did a great job."

Sometimes my love for him hits me in waves that overwhelm and shake me.

2) A better surprise for Tanner would be tickets to a Suns or Cardinals game.
